Despite their characteristic white color, birches can remain mysteriously hidden when leaves are in full bloom. During what we call "stick season" - that season between autumn and winter - the majestic birch becomes more visible. Photographed while walking in the woods north of Brattleboro, Vermont, on a foggy morning.
